About Coach
Seven years ago, while serving in the Royal Marines, Ryan started Spartan Chamber in nothing more than his garage. What began as a passion project has grown into the thriving community and powerhouse gym it is today.
A qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer and accomplished entrepreneur, he has been recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year on three occasions (2018, 2019, and 2022). His approach to coaching is built on creating an environment where people can challenge themselves, build confidence, and become part of something bigger than fitness alone.
When it comes to training, his favourite movements are the bench press and dips. Squats, however, sit firmly at the bottom of the list after a particularly memorable training experience that he jokes nearly cost him a testicle.
An early riser by nature, he believes the best time to train is first thing in the morning, getting the work done before the demands of the day take over.
Turning Point
It’s difficult for Ryan to identify a single defining moment because there have been so many highlights throughout the Spartan Chamber journey. However, one of the most rewarding experiences is seeing the gym come alive during Spartan events. The atmosphere, energy, and sense of community created during these occasions are what make all the hard work worthwhile.
Another standout achievement has been raising more than £25,000 for charity through a variety of challenges. One of the most memorable was the Worm Marathon, completed alongside 30 Spartan Chamber members, demonstrating the power of teamwork, resilience, and collective effort.
Motivation & Passion
Ryan's philosophy is simple: the gym should be a place for everyone. He believes that fitness isn't about punishment - it's about finding a style of training you genuinely enjoy and giving people the tools and support they need to thrive.
More than the physical transformations, what motivates him most is the impact the gym has on people's lives outside of training. Seeing members walk through the doors on day one knowing nobody, only to return months later with a strong network of friends and lasting relationships, is what makes Spartan Chamber truly special.
For him, the greatest success isn't measured by weights lifted or records broken, but by the community that has been built along the way.
Fun Fact: He could grow hair, he just chooses not to.
